PERMANENT VISA

RESEARCHERS


Permanent Visas are issued to professors, high-level technicians or researchers and scientists travelling to Brazil to work for more than two years in a public or private teaching or research institution under a work contract or hired by the Brazilian Government.

The visa application and the pertinent documentation must be lodged in Brazil by the applicant or his/her legal representative or interested institution with the Brazilian Ministry of Labour and Employment. If the application is approved, the Consulate-General will be authorised to issue the visa, provided that the applicant meets the consular requirements (see below) and pays the appropriate consular fees.


DOCUMENTATION REQUIREMENTS


Passport, valid for at least six months

One recent 3 cm x 4 cm photograph, front view

One visa application form (click here to fill in the form). Please disregard the error message about the website’s security certificate. Click at “Continue to this website (not recommended)”.

Fill in the form. . Click "SEND" to receive your processing number and receipt. . Print the receipt. . Attach your photograph . Sign the receipt. . Bring the duly completed and signed receipt, the original documentation, passport and payment.

Certificate of good behaviour (international model) issued by the Dutch Ministry of Justice within 90 days from delivery to the Consulate. Issuance by Dutch authorities may take up to 4 weeks.


The visa application form filled out online is valid for one month only. If you apply after that period, it will be necessary to fill out another form.

CONSULAR FEES AND PROCESSING TIME Consular fee for a permanent visa is € 180,00. All consular fees are payable either by debit card (PIN) or in cash. Credit cards and cheques are not accepted.. US citizens are subject to an additional fee of € 117,00 on a reciprocity basis. British subjects will be subject to a € 139,50 processing fee when the validity of their visas is over 180 days, on a reciprocity basis.

Handling fee per visa submitted by agent or by mail € 18,00 Processing time is a minimum of 3 working days On a reciprocity basis, first entry into Brazil must be made within 90 days after the visa has been issued for passport holders of the following countries: Angola, Bahrain, Cambodia, China, Gabon, Ghana, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Laos, Lybia, Myanmar, Nigeria, Paraguay, Philippines, Portugal, Thailand, Tunisia and Switzerland.
